Takriban watu 150 wameuawa katika shambulizi lililofanywa na kikundi cha kigaidi cha Al-Shabaab, katika eneo la Garisa, nchini Kenya. Katika tukio hilo la kinyama lililotokea saa 11 asubuhi kwenye Chuo Kikuu cha Garisa, magaidi hao waliwapiga risasi na kuwachinja wanafunzi Wakristo.baada ya kuwazidi nguvu walinzi.

Kwa mujibu wa gazeti la Daily Mail la hapa Uingereza, idadi ya waliouawa inafikia 147 na majeruhi ni 79 huku watu 500 wakiokolewa. Wengi wa waliouawa na wanafunzi wa chuo hicho, pamoja na polisi wawili,mwanajeshi mmoja na walinzi wawili.

Waziri wa Mambo ya Ndani wa Kenya, Joseph Nkaissery , alieleza kuwa magaidi wanne walijifunga mabomu, na polisi walipowapiga risasi, walilipuka kama mabomu ambapo vipande vya mabomu hayo viliwahjeruhi polisi.

Maafisa wa usalama katika eneo la tukio walieleza kwamba mateka kadhaa waliokolewa, na magaidi wanne waliokuwa na bunduki aina ya AK-47 waliuawa.

Jana ilikuwa Alhamisi Kuu ambayo kwa mujibu wa taratibu za baadhi ya madhehebu ya Kikristo, ni siku ya maungamo. Leo, Ijumaa Kuu, ni siku ya maadhimisho ya kusulubiwa kwa Yesu Kristo msalabani na hatimaye kufa. Jumapili ijayo ni Pasaka ambapo Wakaristo wanaadhimisha ufufuo wa Yesu Kristo.

Kenyan police managed to arrest one of the terror suspects, right, after he tried to flee from the campus

The death toll rose to 147 tonight and the siege ended, according to the country's disaster response agency. A total of 79 were injured, 587 were led to safety


Most of those killed were students but two police officers, one soldier and two watchmen are among the dead
